Co-Current Flow And Asymmetric Plates Prevent Waxing In Crude Cooling

CHALLENGE

Cool crude with a high wax point of 37°C (99°F) at steady high flow rates without fouling and poor thermal performance.

SOLUTION

A Tranter SUPERCHANGER Plate And Frame Heat Exchanger with co-current flow and asymmetrical Model GX-51 titanium plates.

RESULTS

  • Plate temperature raised to 37°C (99°F).
  • Process design flow rate maintained without waxing.
  • High induced shear rates on both sides of the exchanger prevent fouling layers from building up.

Tranter supplied Model GX-51 exchangers to the Oyo FPSO for crude cooling without waxing.
