HRSG And Condensing Duties In Combined Cycle Power Plants

CHALLENGE

Extract maximum heat possible from moist gas turbine exhaust to generate steam (heat recovery steam generator duty); improve system thermal efficiency over that obtainable with shell and tube heat exchangers.

SOLUTION

Tranter SUPERMAX® Shell And Plate Heat Exchangers can be used as heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs) in combined cycle power plants. Additionally, shell and plate exchangers can be used as condensers the steam turbine Rankine cycle, with cooling provided by water from a lake, river, sea or cooling towers.

RESULTS

  • Live steam temperatures between 420 and 580°C (788°F and 1076°F) are typical.
  • Much easier cleaning of the exhaust flow channel than with shell and tube exchangers.
  • Much smaller footprint.

Tranter SUPERMAX® Shell And Plate Heat Exchangers function as heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs) in combined cycle power plants and also as turbine extraction steam condensers.
