Five-Pass Welded Exchanger Provides Thorough Glycol Regeneration In A Small Footprint
A European petroleum gas supplier has selected Tranter as its preferred supplier of welded plate heat exchangers for its glycol dehydration and regeneration unit. The unit dehydrates large quantities of nitrogen prior to injection into the petroleum sales gas.
The company selected Tranter for two reasons:
- Significantly less space required than the tube heat exchanger alternative (approximately 50% less)
- Almost no maintenance required
The Tranter welded plate heat exchanger for glycol regeneration is an advanced five-pass configuration with a long thermal length. The multiple passes make the regeneration process optimally efficient in a very small footprint.

Two-In-One Lean/Rich Glycol Interchangers Save Space On Skids
A manufacturer of midstream processing skids was looking for more efficient lean/rich TEG interchangers for its gas dehydration units to make possible a reduction in the size of the reboiler and the footprint of the skid, along with the structural complexity of the entire system. The potential savings available with higher efficiency interchangers were significant.
Tranter’s solution was a three-pass/two-pass, countercurrent Shell & Plate Heat Exchanger for even, steady heating of the rich TEG. Tranter subsequently furnished the exchangers in several sizes, credited with helping the integrator to:
- Reduce the size of the reboilers
- Reduce support steel and reinforcement needs on the skid structure
- Offer a more compact skid structure with no need for tube bundle pulling dead-space
