Conserving Heating Energy In New Or Retrofit Projects - HVAC Heating

With their many advantages over conventional shell & tube heat exchangers, Tranter Plate Heat Exchangers  and Shell & Plate Heat Exchangers can handle a wide range of HVAC heating applications:

  • Geothermal heat source or thermal storage isolation
  • Combined process heat/HVAC heating
  • Waste/low-grade heat recovery
  • Instantaneous water heating
  • Swimming pool heating
  • Embedded radiant heating (using Tranter Prime Surface Heat Exchanger panels)

Design flexibility and close temperature approach enable Tranter exchangers to improve system control and efficiency, saving energy and money.

Practical District Heating From Diverse Opportunities

Primary loop heat energy from often dirty and corrosive high-grade heating sources can be exchanged to secondary distribution circuits through Tranter Plate Heat Exchangers or Tranter Shell & Plate Heat Exchangers with corrosion-resistant plates. Shell & Plate units have the ability to withstand pressures to 100 barg (1450 psig) and temperatures from -58° to 900°C (-50° to 1650°F) for standard range units.

Conserving Steam Through Combined Process And HVAC Systems

Off-peak steam load from a large central boiler can be directed in a primary circuit through a Tranter Shell & Plate Heat Exchanger, exchanging this heat energy to Tranter Plate Heat Exchangers heating spaces throughout an entire hospital campus.

Conserving Off-Peak Heating Load Via A Thermal Storage Loop

An economical strategy is to feed surplus steam or thermal fluid to a storage or accumulator tank for use when the load is heavy. Tranter Plate Heat Exchangers are being used in isolation loops to protect the primary heat transfer equipment.

Preventing Coil Damage Using Steam/Water-To-Glycol Heating

Installing a secondary non-freeze water/glycol heating circuit is common for zones exposed to seasonal freezing temperatures. Tranter Plate Heat Exchangers are often used in both central and peripheral glycol circuits.

Tranter Shell & Plate Heat Exchangers used in sterilization and laundry operations and district heating
Tranter Shell & Plate Heat Exchangers withstand the high pressures in institutional steam plants such as are found in hospitals, where process steam is used for duties such as sterilization and laundry operations as well as in district heating systems.
