Long Service Life For Continuous Caster Primary Intercoolers

Tranter Plate Heat Exchangers or Shell & Plate Heat Exchangers with high alloy or titanium plates have achieved success in closed-loop continuous caster water jacket cooling. High fluid velocity prevents plugging and corrosion by aggressive cooling water accepting heat from mold water, spray water, bearing water, bending roll water and electromagnetic stirrer induction coil water.

Improving Thermal Control Of Water-Based Coolants In Rolling Mills

Friction developed during rolling heats the rolls and the aluminum being reduced. Compact Tranter Plate Heat Exchangers or Shell & Plate Heat Exchangers are installed to cool coolants sprayed on the rolls to maintain proper temperatures. Their excellent heat transfer rates offer good temperature control, and their corrosion resistance overcomes intermixing problems often experienced with shell & tube units in this duty.
